As co-founder of Mental Health Advocacy Partners, Raquel Portillo is dedicated to making a direct local impact, particularly by breaking down cultural barriers in BIPOC communities that often prevent individuals from seeking help. This crucial work stems from her personal experience. which led her to transform over ten years of nonprofit and ministry outreach experience into a catalyst to ensure communities have access to mental health resources and vital education.

Since 2023, Raquel has extended her passion statewide as the Development Coordinator for NAMI Texas. In this role, she serves as a bridge between generous supporters who share her like-minded mission to ensure the sustainability of NAMI Texas programs, strengthen legislative advocacy efforts, and expand NAMI Affiliates across Texas.

Through her commitment to both organizations, Raquel fulfills the mission of transforming the culture of silence by cultivating empathy and empowering paths to healing and hope.
